Papou’s letter.

Do you have a love you know will never end? A relationship with someone so core you understand will transcend this world and crossover to whatever comes next. This week's third love story is a tribute to my Dad, who, along with my Mom, adopted me when I was five weeks old. When he wrote his letter below, I had recently given birth to Nora, and my Dad was probably the proudest Papou (Grandpa in Greek) on planet Earth.

One of the most soulful gifts we can extend to those we love is telling them how much they mean to us. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and open our hearts to share what's inside, the words last a lifetime. This week, I am thankful for my Dad's tender heart and how he worked through his internal emotions to welcome the little infant that was me into his world. And how he continued to expand his heart, even during life's toughest moments. Thank you, Dad, for the gift of your love; your written words from so long ago bring peace and sustain me during life's most challenging moments still.

To a very special daughter:

Thirty-two years ago, when I first saw you, it was love at first sight for me. Thirty-eight years ago, I married Mom, and I had one girl, then God blessed us with you, and I had two. Now, we have little Nora, and I have three. I love each and every one of you in a very special way. When we were at your house, I was playing with the baby, and I told her I love you. Then you said to me, Dad, you're not going to forget me, are you?

Susan, I will love you always with all my heart. Love, Dad

Dad, it was love at first sight for me, too.
